Winning in the rink, in eCommerce, and in creative endeavors!

06 July 2020

When you meet Amanda Lusk, Senior Ecommerce Planner at Kids2, her energy, smile, and tenacity are captivating. We spoke with Amanda one early morning to learn more about her role at Kids2 and her interests outside the company and were treated to a glimpse of some of her amazing artwork.

Amanda, how long have you been with Kids2? I joined Kids2 in July 2015, so July will be my five-year anniversary.

What roles have you held? When I started in 2015, I was hired as a Replenishment Coordinator. In 2017, I was promoted to a Lead Replenishment Coordinator, and in 2018, promoted to Supply Planner for the home category. I moved into the Sr. Supply Planner role for the home category in 2019, and in April of this year, became the Senior Ecommerce Planner for all ecommerce and dropship business-across all categories and platforms.

Tell us more about your new role? I’m helping lead the charge in areas relating to operational excellence and winning in ecommerce growth. This includes improving all systems processing for Kids2, creating standard operating procedures, and building strategic global inventory models for ecommerce and dropship market volatility.

I’m also working on data collection of different global promotion opportunities. We want to understand more about what happens when our products are on promotion or price compressed on a specific customer’s platform. How does that affect our products and sales? How do customers react when a retailer drops the item’s price? For example: if we work with a retailer on a 90-day price drop – does that retailer get better sales results than other retailers where that product is listed?

Plus, I’m helping to improve operational effectiveness, which provides a lot of opportunities to work cross-functionally. I’m working with our IT, PMO, Business Unit, Sales, Operations, and Compliance teams on multiple projects like onboarding chase business, Inventory Sync, Back End processing while also looking at ways to reduce costs associated with Value Added Services (VAS). I just completed a VAS analysis for an account that could result in BIG savings for Kids2.

We want to begin standardizing key areas of our ecommerce and drop-ship business, such as KPIs and data reporting, to become the #1 vendor for our customers. Three to four times a week, sales, BU, ops, and PMO meet to identify process gaps and build action plans by identifying owners for implementation. There is no shortage of collective brute strength to push this forward.

What do you like most about Kids2 – There are a lot of things I like, but if I had to pick just one – it’s the people I work with. I get to work with different departments, which brings different perspectives of the business and all are working on awesome things for Kids2.

Everyone is kind; wants to help; has a passion for Kids2, and wants to make Kids2 the winner. It’s great to have these conversations and build great friendships. Over the quarantine, I have built even stronger friendships than if I were in the office – and from different areas of the company. One other thing: I love the slide, especially at Thanksgiving!

What’s your favorite Fundamental and Why? #11 – Speak Straight is my favorite. Kids2 is in a very interesting spot because growth comes with challenges and opportunities. How do we begin to identify those areas of opportunities and implement continuous improvement if we don’t speak straight with what processes or systems are causing limitations and/or challenges?

What are your interests outside Kids2 – Currently, I play roller derby. I’m on Atlanta’s traveling team, which is part of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). We are the top 20 in the world. I’m also an artist and recently participated in an art show with a few friends. All proceeds from the show went to four different COVID-19 charities. We raised $1500 on the first day!

I enjoy all types of art – photography, mixed media, painting, and printmaking, which is my favorite. I also enjoy crafting, gardening, and working out. During our recent quarantine, I’ve started painting more. Although painting is not my favorite, before Kids2, I worked for a small paint company, and as a parting gift, they gave me a carload (seriously) of acrylic paint. Now seems the perfect time to force myself to use it.

Anything else you want to share? I am super excited about all the Kids2 opportunities and great people to help us get us there. I’m excited to see where Kids2 will go!
